GAE in Your Area
At heart, GAE is a grassroots organization. You see, GAE is a professional organization run by our members and for our members. GAE members—public educators just like you—steer the direction of this organization.

So how does GAE keep in touch with our more than 40,000 members across the state? First, we do that by having Uniserv Directors in service centers throughout the state. A Uniserv Director (or UD) is your first point of contact in this organization. If you have a question or a problem, your UD will help you get the information—or the help—you need.

Throughout the state on the local level, you’ll also find our local associations (which encompass the members in a particular school system or college/university). Each local association hosts regular meetings in the area designed to keep you informed and involved in what’s important to the profession—from your local school system to national bills and laws.

And twice a year, elected representatives from GAE’s general membership convene at our Representative Assembly to vote on new business, set the legislative agenda for the upcoming session, and shape GAE.
