Educators disheartened by salary promise decrease

Please attribute the following statement to Charlotte Booker, president of the Georgia Association of Educators:

"The Georgia House Appropriations Committee has passed a budget that cuts in half Governor Kemp’s proposed teacher salary increase of $2,000. The GAE is disappointed with the actions of the Appropriations Committee. Our teachers work extremely hard and are simply trying to catch up from years of no increase at all, while having to deal with escalating medical and other costs.

In addition, the committee's action only reduces Georgia’s competitiveness when trying to attract and retain well-qualified teachers for our deserving students."
