Contacting Your Legislator
Your elected officials need to hear what is happening in your schools and how the decisions they make affect your profession and your students.
Navigating the intersection of education policy, politics and public opinion is an increasingly challenging and important role for educators across Georgia. So, to ensure that GAE engages the spectrum of education public policy stakeholders in an effective way, we work to give our members comprehensive information that builds their policy capacity. Additionally, we engage legislators, build relations and share education research with all involved. .. No other professional education organization combines that nexus.
Through our monitoring of legislative committees, the State Board of Education, the Georgia Department of Education, the Professional Standards Commission, and the Teachers Retirement System, GAE keeps up-to-date on the rules and regulations affecting education and teaching.
GAE keeps you informed of these rules and regulations via KNOW Magazine and our Legislative Hotline and the Online Action Center. GAE deploys a team of lobbyists who work before, during, and after the annual 40-day legislative session to provide information and guidance to legislators and politicians about GAE's legislative priorities.
If you’re a public educator, know that we’re on your side.
