The Georgia Association of Educators is the pre-eminent professional organization for teachers, administrators, college education majors and educational support personnel in the state of Georgia.

GAE’s Government Relations team tackles some of the toughest challenges surrounding education legislation and policy in Georgia. At the nexus of law, policy and the classroom, the team helps members understand what issues have impact from the State Capitol. Our goal is to ensure that the voices of educators are a part of education policy-making and evaluation as our only goal is student excellence. We advocate on education public policy issues in Georgia with an eye toward ensuring that those who do the work of educating kids each day have a valid contribution.

Navigating the intersection of education policy, politics and public opinion is an increasingly challenging and important role for educators across Georgia. So, to ensure that GAE engages the spectrum of education public policy stakeholders in an effective way, we work to give our members comprehensive information that builds their policy capacity. Additionally, we engage legislators, build relations and share education research with all involved. .. No other professional education organization combines that nexus.

Through our monitoring of legislative committees, the State Board of Education, the Georgia Department of Education, the Professional Standards Commission, and the Teachers Retirement System, GAE keeps up-to-date on the rules and regulations affecting education and teaching.

GAE keeps you informed of these rules and regulations via KNOW Magazine and our Legislative Hotline and the Online Action Center. GAE deploys a team of lobbyists who work before, during, and after the annual 40-day legislative session to provide information and guidance to legislators and politicians about GAE's legislative priorities.

If you’re a public educator, know that we’re on your side.

Our track record speaks for itself. For more than 125 years, the Georgia Association of Educators has been the only organization for educators in Georgia that actively pushes for—and protects public educators—against negative and/or harmful education legislation.

It’s the job of GAE’s Government Relations team to fight laws and policies that affect the education profession, teaching standards, classrooms, even buses and cafeterias. GAE’s Government Relations team is there.

In fact, GAE has had more legislative victories than any other organization in Georgia.
If you want to see public education change for the better here in Georgia, then join with the only organization for educators that has the power to make that happen.
