GAE Files Lawsuit Seeking Declaratory Relief and Damages

Teacher of the Year and GAE member John Tibbetts signed and return his employment contract for the 2019-2020 school year. However, the Worth School district claims not to have received the contract, leaving Mr. Tibbetts out of a job as a successful economics teacher at Worth County High School. As a last resort, GAE filed a lawsuit seeking a declaration from the court that John Tibbetts has a contract of employment with Worth County Schools for the 2019-2020. In addition, the suit alleges the school district’s actions are retaliation against Mr. Tibbetts for speaking to members of the board of education about the superintendent’s proposal to change from a 7-period day to a 4-block day at the high school.
