GAE was the only organization to comment on proposed ethics change

The PSC’s trend of extreme punishment continues. The PSC proposal was to permanently ban educators that had an “inappropriate relationship” with “physical contact.” We argued the life-time ban was vague, overly broad in scope, and did not provide educators with reasonable notice of conduct that could end a career – forever. We suggested that a permanent ban be limited to a more narrow, specific category of serious offenses involving physical contact, those “engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship.” Regrettably, our suggestion for sensible regulations was denied. The new rule becomes effective April 15, 2021.  Click for GAE comments.
