Contact the publisher of his or her most recent work to find out if a visit can be arranged.
Stage a Read-In
Hold a poster contest in your classroom, or organize a school-wide door decorating contest.
Hold a contest asking students to submit 75-word reviews of their favorite books. Post the reviews in the library, on the class website, or in the school paper.
National Teacher Day/School Family Day
Publicize and invite media to your activities.
Hold reception after school.
Read joint proclamations with administration.
Present certificates or other appropriate token of appreciation to staff.

School Nurse Day
Hold a recognition activity to honor school nurses and present each with a token of appreciation.

Retirement Activities:
Honor retiring staff with a luncheon, dinner, reception or party.
Present them with service pins and other tokens of appreciation.
Make appropriate presentations to staff with 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. years of service.
End of School Year:
See June activities if school year ends in May.
Other:
Develop a brochure or flyer to send to parents at the end of school ar on tips for summertime learning activities, recommended trips to area attractions, safety tips and reading lists.
*Remember to occasionally poll your members for any personal or professional awards or accomplishments that can be pitched to your local media. When contacting the media, be sure your membership in the Association is mentioned.
