Our Leaders

What does leadership look like? All of us.
GAE members elect delegates who elect GAE's top officers, debate issues, and set GAE policy. Here are your leaders, making your voice heard.
GAE members across the state set association policy, most notably through an annual Representative Assembly (RA) meeting each summer. Between Representative Assemblies, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee are GAE's top decision-making bodies.

Your GAE President

Lisa Morgan is the current President of the Georgia Association of Educators, a state affiliate of the National Education Association. Before taking the helm as the leader of Georgia’s pre-eminent statewide teaching organization, she was a classroom teacher for twenty-one years.

Your GAE Executive Director

Dr. Craig Carter, a 20-year, award-winning, National Board Certified teacher, came to GAE from its sister organization, the Louisiana Association of Educators, where he served as its executive director, and before that, as its Director of Membership Growth and Organizing. He brings to GAE his extensive experience in member organizing.

How Our Association Works

The Georgia Association of Educators is the most experienced and effective professional organization for teachers, administrators, and educational support professionals within Georgia's public schools. GAE represents members within the state legislature and state agencies on educational issues, convenes coalitions to support public education, supports the rights of educators, and provides an extensive benefits package for its membership.
Angela Tucker-Holmes
I’m very passionate about what I do. The Association believed in me by investing in our shared future. And the more I became involved, the more I wanted to do more.
